Item #5 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF May 18, 2004 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br />FROM: AMER JAKHER, P.E., CITY ENGINEER <br />SUBJECT: APPROVE RESOLUTION AMENDING THE BUDGET FOR <br />FISCAL YEAR JULY 1, 2003 AND ENDING JUNE 30, 2004 TO <br />APPROPRIATE FUNDS FOR DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION <br />OF MINOR INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS AND TRAFFIC <br />SIGNAL AT INTERSECTION OF BARTON ROAD AND LA <br />CADENA DRIVE AND APPROVE ENTERING INTO A <br />COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT WITH THE COUNTY OF SAN <br />BERNARDINO AND THE CITY OF GRAND TERRACE FOR <br />SAID IMPROVEMENTS <br />DATE: May 10, 2004 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On January 22, 2004 the County of San Bernardino submitted draft cooperative agreement, <br />preliminary plans, and preliminary cost estimate for the installation of a traffic signal at Barton <br />Road and La Cadena Drive. The estimated funding cost for this project is approximately $380,000. <br />The County is seeking the City's participation in this traffic signal installation by proportionally <br />sharing the cost of the project. <br />The scope of work is to install a traffic signal, construct minor modifications to the intersection of <br />Barton road and La Cadena Drive, and construct a north -bound acceleration lane on Barton Road at <br />Palm Avenue. The County of San Bernardino will perform as the Lead Agency in this project. <br />On April 28, 2004 the County of San Bernardino submitted a revised draft agreement, which added <br />the City of Grand Terrace as participate, to share in the cost of the traffic signal project. The <br />proposed project is within the jurisdiction of County of San Bernardino, City of Grand Terrace and <br />the City of Colton. <br />The proposed cooperative agreement essentially breaks down to the San Bernardino County's share <br />will be 39.5% (approximately $150,000), the City of Grand Terrace's share will be 25% <br />(approximately $95,000), and the City of Colton's share will be 35.5% (approximately $135,000). <br />
