VERNON AVE AND
COLTON AVE INTERSECTION IN THE AMOUNT OF $31,450.00.
DATE: APRIL 12, 2005
BACKGROUND:
The Capital Improvement Program (CIP) references this project as Signal Modification at Mt.
Vernon Avenue and Colton Avenue. Mt. Vernon Avenue and Colton Avenue intersection is one of
the busiest in the City of Colton due to its proximity to: 1) The Washington Alternative High
School, 2) The on and off ramps to both the 10 and 215 Freeway and 3) is a designated truck route.
In addition, several businesses and shopping centers are situated along Mt. Vernon Avenue.
The intersection has been identified to need a signal modification due to the volume of northbound
and southbound traffic on Mt. Vernon Avenue. The modification improvement will add a
protective left tum phase; currently, this intersection exists without left tum arrows. The scope of
work for this project includes: installation of a south east signal pole and running a conduit from
north east corner control unit to north west comer and south east corner.
On March 21, 2005, City staff sent a request for proposal (RFP) to the following companies.
1. Sierra Pacific Electrical company Riverside.
2. DBX Inc, Tamecula.
3. Team Econolite Anaheim.
Staff received formal proposal from one (1) firm, with their corresponding proposal amount as
follows:
1. Sierra Pacific Electrical company $ 31,450.00.
