PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR CITY OF COLTON Page 2 of 3 The incumbent may use cleaning and lubricating chemicals, which may expose the employee to fumes, dust, and air contaminants. The nature of the work also requires the incumbent to climb ladders, use power and noise producing tools and equipment, drive motorized vehicles, operate a variety of equipment, work in heavy vehicle traffic conditions, and often work with constant interruptions. QUALIFICATIONS: Education and/or Experience: Any combination of education and experience that has provided the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary for a Production Supervisor. A typical way of obtaining the required qualifications is to possess five years of increasingly responsible experience performing field construction, inspection, and/or facility maintenance work, including one year of supervisory or lead responsibility and a high school diploma. License/Certificate: Possession of a valid class A California driver's license. KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILLS: Knowledge of: Operations and standard operating procedures of various maintenance programs within the Public Works Department.. Complex principles and practices of various maintenance programs. Methods and techniques of lead supervision, training, and motivation. Applicable Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations. Operational characteristics of maintenance standard equipment. Occupational hazards and standard safety practices. Methods and techniques for record keeping. Public works construction and maintenance equipment. The operation, care, and preventive maintenance techniques for maintenance equipment. Practices, methods, and materials used in general construction, grounds maintenance, and general maintenance work. Ability to: Operate a variety of equipment. Plan, organize and direct the work of subordinate staff. Supervise subordinate staff. Supervise and oversee the operations and activities of various maintenance programs. Courteously respond to community issues, concerns, and needs. Apply applicable laws, codes and regulations. Perform skilled construction and maintenance tasks. Read and interpret maps, sketches, drawings, specifications, and technical manuals. Perform labor intensive manual tasks for extended periods of time. Work independently. Understand and follow oral and written instructions. Communicate clearly and concisely. Establish effective -working relationships with those contacted at work. Respond to issues and concerns from the community. Analyze complex data, situations and research materials; formulate options and develop and implement an appropriate response.
