PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR CITY OF COLTON <br />Page 2 of 3 <br />The incumbent may use cleaning and lubricating chemicals, which may expose the employee to <br />fumes, dust, and air contaminants. The nature of the work also requires the incumbent to climb <br />ladders, use power and noise producing tools and equipment, drive motorized vehicles, operate a <br />variety of equipment, work in heavy vehicle traffic conditions, and often work with constant <br />interruptions. <br />QUALIFICATIONS: <br />Education and/or Experience: <br />Any combination of education and experience that has provided the knowledge, abilities, <br />and skills necessary for a Production Supervisor. A typical way of obtaining the <br />required qualifications is to possess five years of increasingly responsible experience <br />performing field construction, inspection, and/or facility maintenance work, including <br />one year of supervisory or lead responsibility and a high school diploma. <br />License/Certificate: <br />Possession of a valid class A California driver's license. <br />KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILLS: <br />Knowledge of: <br />Operations and standard operating procedures of various maintenance programs within <br />the Public Works Department.. <br />Complex principles and practices of various maintenance programs. <br />Methods and techniques of lead supervision, training, and motivation. <br />Applicable Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations. <br />Operational characteristics of maintenance standard equipment. <br />Occupational hazards and standard safety practices. <br />Methods and techniques for record keeping. <br />Public works construction and maintenance equipment. <br />The operation, care, and preventive maintenance techniques for maintenance equipment. <br />Practices, methods, and materials used in general construction, grounds maintenance, and <br />general maintenance work. <br />Ability to: <br />Operate a variety of equipment. <br />Plan, organize and direct the work of subordinate staff. <br />Supervise subordinate staff. <br />Supervise and oversee the operations and activities of various maintenance programs. <br />Courteously respond to community issues, concerns, and needs. <br />Apply applicable laws, codes and regulations. <br />Perform skilled construction and maintenance tasks. <br />Read and interpret maps, sketches, drawings, specifications, and technical manuals. <br />Perform labor intensive manual tasks for extended periods of time. <br />Work independently. <br />Understand and follow oral and written instructions. <br />Communicate clearly and concisely. <br />Establish effective -working relationships with those contacted at work. <br />Respond to issues and concerns from the community. <br />Analyze complex data, situations and research materials; formulate options and develop <br />and implement an appropriate response. <br />
