Unanimous vote.
MAYOR'S REPORTS AND PROCLAMATIONS:
Presentations
Mayor Gonzales welcomed guests from Chafford School in Rainham, England, stating
that Mr. Rollin Grider, Principal from Colton High School, would make the intro-
ductions.
Mr. Grider advised that Colton has been hosting approximately 95 people on an ex-
change visit from the Chafford School in Rainham, England for the past two weeks.
Mr. Grider then introduced teachers Mrs. Diane Clarke and Mrs. Pat Cook, and Senior
Q Head Mistress, Mrs. Margaret Jones.
Q Mayor Gonzales presented plaques containing Keys to the City to each of the teachers,
and asked that a Key to the City and special letter of greeting be sent along and
given to the Lord Mayor of Romford from the Mayor and City Council.
Mrs. Jones then presented to Mayor Gonzales a small banner bearing their Coat of Arms
from the London Borough of Havering and a letter of greeting from the Lord Mayor of
Romford.
Mayor Gonzales shared the letter with those present and expressed his gratitude to
Mrs. Jones and the other guests. Mayor Gonzales also complimented the many families
in Colton for extending their hospitality to the guests from England during the past
two weeks.
PUBLIC HEARINGS:
Personnel
Reorganization
Mayor Gonzales declared the Public Hearing open.
Personnel Officer Trevino submitted the Affidavits of Posting.
Mr. Trevino advised the Public Hearing this evening is to consider the reorganiza-
tion of the Community Services Department, and referred to a chart outlining the
proposed reorganization of the department and various divisions, the creation of
new positions and the reactivation of positions that were formerly on the books
but never budgeted, which include Automotive Superintendent, Parks and Cemetery
Superintendent, Chief of Sanitation, Public Works Coordinator, and City Engineer.
Mr. Trevino said if the Council Members concur, Staff would recommend approval of
Resolution Nos. 4100 and 4101.
Mayor Gonzales asked if anyone desired to speak on this matter.
Councilman Rehrer asked how much money is it going to cost the City by adding the
5 new positions.
Mr. Trevino replied it would probably be about the same as the City is now paying
or a little less, depending on if these positions can be filled through the ranks,
which is what is hoped to be done. Mr. Trevino said it appears there may be a
savings of approximately $1,000 up to June 30.
Councilman Rehrer then asked about the Budget for 1981-82, and how much it will
cost the City for that year.
APR 2 11981
