Legislation 4 1 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 4099 - RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON <br />IN SUPPORT OF LEGISLATION REMOVING THE RESTRICTIONS <br />AND PROHIBITIONS ON THE USE OF NATURAL GAS IN UTILITY <br />POWERPLANTS, FOR SUBMITTAL TO THE CALIFORNIA CONGRESS- <br />IONAL DELEGATION. <br />Public Works <br />Public Works Project Progress Report. <br />Assessment Districts <br />Engineering Expense for Parcel Splits within Assessment Districts as recom- <br />mended by the City Treasurer. <br />Moved by Councilman Hayes, seconded by Councilman Rehrer, to approve the Consent <br />Calendar. Unanimous vote. <br />MAYOR'S REPORTS AND PROCLAMATIONS: <br />Presentations <br />Mayor Gonzales welcomed guests from Chafford School in Rainham, England, stating <br />that Mr. Rollin Grider, Principal from Colton High School, would make the intro- <br />ductions. <br />Mr. Grider advised that Colton has been hosting approximately 95 people on an ex- <br />change visit from the Chafford School in Rainham, England for the past two weeks. <br />Mr. Grider then introduced teachers Mrs. Diane Clarke and Mrs. Pat Cook, and Senior <br />Q Head Mistress, Mrs. Margaret Jones. <br />Q Mayor Gonzales presented plaques containing Keys to the City to each of the teachers, <br />and asked that a Key to the City and special letter of greeting be sent along and <br />given to the Lord Mayor of Romford from the Mayor and City Council. <br />Mrs. Jones then presented to Mayor Gonzales a small banner bearing their Coat of Arms <br />from the London Borough of Havering and a letter of greeting from the Lord Mayor of <br />Romford. <br />Mayor Gonzales shared the letter with those present and expressed his gratitude to <br />Mrs. Jones and the other guests. Mayor Gonzales also complimented the many families <br />in Colton for extending their hospitality to the guests from England during the past <br />two weeks. <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS: <br />Personnel <br />Reorganization <br />Mayor Gonzales declared the Public Hearing open. <br />Personnel Officer Trevino submitted the Affidavits of Posting. <br />Mr. Trevino advised the Public Hearing this evening is to consider the reorganiza- <br />tion of the Community Services Department, and referred to a chart outlining the <br />proposed reorganization of the department and various divisions, the creation of <br />new positions and the reactivation of positions that were formerly on the books <br />but never budgeted, which include Automotive Superintendent, Parks and Cemetery <br />Superintendent, Chief of Sanitation, Public Works Coordinator, and City Engineer. <br />Mr. Trevino said if the Council Members concur, Staff would recommend approval of <br />Resolution Nos. 4100 and 4101. <br />Mayor Gonzales asked if anyone desired to speak on this matter. <br />Councilman Rehrer asked how much money is it going to cost the City by adding the <br />5 new positions. <br />Mr. Trevino replied it would probably be about the same as the City is now paying <br />or a little less, depending on if these positions can be filled through the ranks, <br />which is what is hoped to be done. Mr. Trevino said it appears there may be a <br />savings of approximately $1,000 up to June 30. <br />Councilman Rehrer then asked about the Budget for 1981-82, and how much it will <br />cost the City for that year. <br />APR 2 11981 <br />
