123 <br />transmittal from the County of San Bernardino for fire and paramedic services in <br />Improvement Zone H for the term of one year, commencing July 1, 1981, and terminating <br />July 3, 1981. Unanimous vote. <br />Community Relations <br />Chamber of Commerce <br />City Attorney Edwards reported that the Council had awarded the Chamber of Commerce <br />a sum of $15,000 at their meeting of August 18, 1981, for a program outlined by <br />the Chamber at that time. Mr. Edwards said since August, the Chamber has found <br />need to change their program and these changes are outlined and included in the <br />Agenda Report before the Council tonight. Mr. Edwards stated the request from <br />the Chamber is to approve the changes and to authorize payment of the $15,000 <br />as follows: The sum of $10,00 now and $5,000 January 10, 1982. <br />Discussion followed on the Easter Egg Hunt proposed by the Chamber of Commerce, <br />with one member of the Council feeling that perhaps the Chamber's event could <br />replace the one conducted by the City and thus, save the City some funding; one <br />Council Member felt the City would probably benefit from an additional Easter <br />Egg Hunt. <br />Moved by Councilman Hayes, seconded by Councilwoman Cisneros, to approve the program <br />changes by the Chamber of Commerce and to disburse the $15,000 allocated as requested. <br />Unanimous vote. <br />Bids <br />Q Transformers <br />Q City Manager Trevino reported the bid opening for three transformers for the <br />Electric Department was conducted October 19, 1981 in the City Clerk's Office <br />and based on the analysis, McGraw Edison Company is recommended for award of bid. <br />Moved by Councilwoman Cisneros, seconded by Councilwoman Garcia, to award McGraw <br />Edison Company the bid for Electric Transformers, 300 and 500 KVA. Unanimous vote. <br />Bids <br />Vehicles <br />City Manager Trevino reported bid opening was held October 19, 1981, for four <br />vehicles and based on the bid analysis award is recommended as follows: Crest <br />Chevrolet for ? Ton Pick-up and Compact Pick-up and Moss Motors for Four Wheel <br />Drive Vehicle and 3/4 Ton Pick-up. <br />Moved by Councilwoman Garcia, seconded by Councilwoman Cisneros, to award the <br />bids for City Vehicles to Crest Chevrolet and Moss Motors as recommended by Staff. <br />Unanimous vote. <br />Franchise <br />Cable TV/Buena Vista <br />Mr. Ben Ochoa, General Manager of Buena Vista Cable TV of Colton, Inc. gave an update <br />report to the Council on recent Cable TV activities. <br />Mr. Ochoa, stated that he has completed negotiation with all utilities involved for <br />licensing clearance to enable Buena Vista to proceed with construction and stringing <br />of cable on the various utility poles. Mr. Ochoa stated the main obstacle is the <br />actual pole clearance by the utilities themselves which then allows Buena Vista to <br />place their cable on the utility poles. <br />Mr. Ochoa indicated that they are three months behind their original schedule, <br />however, they are now reporting that the first phase of the project or approximately <br />100 homes will have cable service by January 1982. Mr. Ochoa stated the entire <br />project should probably be complete by summer should everything continue on target. <br />Mr. Ochoa and Mr. Moctezuma Esparza assured the Council that Buena Vista is <br />sincerely attempting to fulfill their part of the project, they have awarded a <br />contract to Allen Construction to commence cable construction in the first phase; <br />however, all is dependent on third party clearances. Both gentlemen assured the <br />Council they will continue to work in good faith and keep the Council abreast of <br />the work progression. <br />N01V ;; 1981 <br />
