Unanimous vote. <br />MAYOR'S REPORTS AND PROCLAMATIONS: <br />Award To The Police Department <br />Mel Albiso, of the Mexican -American Management Association, reported that the <br />Association had held their annual awards banquet to award scholarships to His- <br />panics of the community. Mr. Albiso presented a plaque to the Colton Police <br />Department in recognition of their contributions to these scholarships. The <br />award was presented by Mel Albiso to Captain Paul Connolly. <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS: <br />Fire Protection <br />Ordinance No. 1624 <br />Mayor Huntoon declared the Public Hearing open. <br />City Clerk Ramos submitted the Affidavit of Publication and reported that no <br />objections or protests had been received. <br />Planning Director Jaime Aguilera reported that based on concerns of the Fire <br />Department regarding the adequacy of fire protection for some areas of the <br />City, the Planning Commission studied this problem. The Planning Commission <br />Ad Hoc Committee determined that the City should enact an ordinance requiring <br />that existing buildings not change in occupancy, use, or size, and that no new <br />buildings be constructed unless provisions are made for the construction and <br />installation of water lines and fire hydrants as may be required by the Depart- <br />ment of Community Services. <br />Mr. Aguilera recommended first reading of Ordinance No. 1624. <br />Mayor Huntoon asked if anyone desired to speak on this matter. <br />JUL �) 10 <br />
