355 <br />CITY MANAGER'S REPORTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />Grants/Parks <br />City Manager Elliott advised that the City of Colton has received <br />a Grant from the State in the amount of $15,000, which will enable <br />the C.C.C. (California Conservation Corp) to assist the City of <br />Colton in a general clean-up and beautification of our parks and <br />other areas of the City. <br />The Council consensus was very favorable to the project and the beau- <br />tification of our City. <br />COMMUNITY SERVICES DIRECTOR'S REPORTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />Tract Files <br />Tract No. 10792 - Waste Discharge Problem <br />Community Services Director Joe McGee referred to a letter from <br />Ira B. Pace, General Manager and Secretary of the West San Ber- <br />nardino County Water District, stating their opposition to the <br />proposed underground waste discharge from individual septic tank <br />systems from a proposed development in Tract No. 10792, located <br />on the southwesterly side of Riverside Avenue, northerly of Linden. <br />Q Mr. McGee continued the District is also concerned about the poten- <br />tial of contaminating or polluting their percolation ponds as well <br />as their underground water tables, and the San Bernardino Valley <br />Municipal Water District and Department of Health Services have al- <br />so expressed their concern about this Tract and proposed develop- <br />ment. <br />Mr. McGee advised the Water Districts have asked that the City of <br />Colton express their opposition, to the County Board of Supervisors, <br />to the underground waste discharge and the adoption of a Negative <br />Declaration for this development. <br />After discussion, it was Council consensus to direct Staff to prepare <br />a letter to the County Board of Supervisors expressing the City of <br />Colton's opposition to the proposed underground waste discharge from <br />individual septic tank systems and the adoption of a Negative Declara- <br />tion for the development in Tract No. 10792. <br />ADJOURNMENT: <br />There being no further business to come before the City Council at <br />this time, Mayor Pro Tem Cisneros adjourned the meeting at 5:40 p.m. <br />HELEN A.
