471 <br />said the proposal is for the month of July through August 31, 1984, <br />two temporary employees, 6 hours per day, 24 hours per week end, <br />8 week ends; 192 hours @ $4.00 per hour for a total. of $768.00. Mr. <br />Elliott said supervision would be under the jurisdiction of the Parks <br />Department. <br />Discussion followed on having a permanent person assigned to supervise <br />the temporary personnel on a rotation basis. Discussed the interest <br />_ of the Park Bond Fund being deposited into the General Fund, thus <br />funding for the temporary persons will come from the General Fund. <br />Discussed utilizing the temporary personnelbeyond the August 31, date <br />and possibly on Mondays as needed. <br />Moved by Councilwoman Cisneros, seconded by Councilman Rehrer, to <br />approve Resolution No. 4498, with the flexibility that adjustment in <br />hours and/or days willbe utilized as needed to keep parks clean. <br />Unanimous vote. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 4490 - RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />COLTON AMENDING THE 1984-85 FISCAL YEAR BUDGET. <br />(V POLICE <br />Emergency 9-1-1 Number <br />Acting Chief of Police Connally gave a brief presentation on the <br />Q new 911 Emergency Telephone Number System that will go into affect <br />on Saturday. <br />Chief Connolly explained that a person having any kind of a public <br />safety emergency; fire, police, medical, can now call a single number <br />911. Chief Connolly explained how the central dispatch center works <br />saying, the person would dial 911 from anywhere in the Riverside/San <br />Bernardino Counties and the central dispatch center will immediately <br />route the call to the proper agency. Chief Connolly stated that paid <br />telephones are being modified to make this a toll free call.. Chief <br />Connolly reported that in the near future this number, 911, will be <br />utilized throughout the United States. <br />Chief Connolly invited the Council and audience to view the operation <br />first hand at the Colton Police Department. <br />CITY ATTORNEY'S REPORTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />Compensation <br />City Attorney Edwards report in the 1984-85 Fiscal Year Budget, the <br />compensation of the Planning Commission Members was raised to $20 and <br />$15, per meeting for the Chairperson and Commissioners, respectively. <br />Attorney Edwards presented Resolution No. 4491, saying this will put <br />the increase into effect. <br />Moved by Councilman Rios, seconded by Councilman Rehrer, to approve <br />Resolution No. 4491. Unanimous vote. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 4491 - A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF COLTON PROVIDING FOR INCREASED ALLOWANCE FOR <br />THE CHAIRPERSON AND THE MEMBERS OF THE COLTON <br />PLANNING COMMISSION. <br />ORAL COMMUNICATIONS: <br />Railroad Crossings <br />Mr. Frank Smith, "F" Street Resident, addressed the Council with <br />regard to the terrible condition of the railroad crossing on "F" St. <br />Mayor Huntoon reported the City Manager has written to the railroad <br />on this and has had the chuck holes filled adjacent to the area, but <br />the City cannot do anything, on the tracks themselves. <br />Discussion followed with regard to the railroad crossing at Colton <br />Avenue and "C" Street. Again, the City Manager stated he has written <br />to the railroad and in fact, has made a second demand. <br />JUL 31984 <br />
