Moved by Councilwoman Cisneros, seconded by Councilman Rios, to ap- prove the Consent Calendar. Unanimous vote. MAYOR'S REPORTS AND PROCLAMATIONS: Resolution of Commendation Mayor Huntoon read in full a Resolution of Commendation honoring Mr. Claude E. Willis, Director of AV -COM Law Enforcement Media of Laguna Beach, and producer of the program "PROTECT OUR CHILDREN", which won the second highest award, a Silver Medal, at the Inter- national Film and TV Festival in New York, November, 1983. Mr. Willis accepted the Resolution of Commendation, stating it was an honor for him to be in Colton this evening for this event, and said he especially wanted to thank and commend the Colton Police De- partment for their participation in this Program. Mr. Willis then presented Acting Police Chief Paul Connolly with the Silver Medal Award for the City of Colton. Mr. Willis also presented an Award to Bill Harms, Crime Prevention Officer, for his service and assistance. Mayor Huntoon announced there willbe a film presentation, of approxi- mately 27 minutes, immediately following the meeting this evening, and encouraged everyone to stay and see it. SANBAG Mayor Huntoon referred to a memo from Wesley C. McDaniel, SANBAG City Selection Committee, correcting an earlier memo dated Febru- ary 21, 1984, with regard to the City of Fontana's Election, which will be held in November, rather than April as previously stated. RECREATION_ AND PARKS COMMISSION REPORTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: Bids Recreation Director Max Lofy made a presentation regarding authoriza- tion to advertise for two separate bids on Iron Mountain Forge equip- ment, or the equal thereof, and installation and related labor perti- nent and affixed to Iron Mountain Forge equipment or the equal there- ,.,,, of, for park improvements. Moved by Councilman Rehrer, seconded by Councilman Rios, authorizing and approving advertising for Bids for Park Improvements as outlined by Staff. Unanimous vote. Appointments Mayor Huntoon advised there is a vacancy on the Recreation and Parks Commission and he would like to submit the name of Frank Navarro for appointment. Councilman Rehrer stated he would like to table this matter until the next regular meeting, as he would also like to submit someone for ap- pointment. HIR 6 198it
