Resolutions <br />Councilman Rios read in full a Resolution of Commendation on behalf of <br />BETA LAMBDA SORORITY. The Resolution was accepted by Christy Thompson <br />of the Sorority. <br />Commission Appointments <br />Mayor Gonzales referred to a memorandum from Councilman -Elect Roy M. <br />Roman, wherein Mr. Roman requested that any appointments to Boards or <br />Commissions be held off until he is sworn in as a Member of the City <br />Council. <br />On Council consensus, Mr. Roman's request was approved. <br />Boards & Commissions <br />Appointments to various Boards & Commissions was postponed until a <br />future date. <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS: <br />Appeals <br />Mayor Gonzales declared the Public Hearing open. <br />City Clerk Ramos submitted the Affidavit of Publication and reported <br />that no protests or objections had been received. <br />Community Development Director Aguilera reported on an Appeal filed by <br />Maclin Markets, Inc., on Planning Commission denial of a Conditional Use <br />Permit, File Index No. DC -54-90, for the sale of alcohol at the Auction <br />facility located at 1902 West Valley Boulevard, Colton. <br />Mr. Aguilera advised Maclin Markets had obtained a license and approval <br />from the A.B.C. to sell liquor at the Auction. Mr. Aguilera stated due <br />to a misunderstanding from a Staff member, Maclin Markets proceeded with <br />the sale of liquor. <br />Mr. Aguilera concluded at the public hearing held August 28, 1990, the <br />Planning Commission denied the request and the C.U.P. <br />Mayor Gonzales asked if anyone present desired to speak on this matter. <br />Mr. Brad Larsen, Maclin Markets, Inc., 1902 West Valley Boulevard, Colton, <br />spoke to the Council stating the City staff has been aware of their op- <br />eration from the beginning and also that his company has acted in good <br />faith. Mr. Larsen advised they have never had a problem at their Chino <br />Auction, in the 12 years of operation, and the ABC feels they have oper- <br />ated in good faith also.
