(9) Parks <br />Use of Fleming Park by Public Works, Saturday, October 5, <br />1991, Run for Recycling. <br />(10) Personnel/Electric <br />Reaffirm Prior Year Addition of Energy Services Specialist <br />to Electric Department. <br />(11) Bids <br />Award of Contract for Street Improvements on Meridian, <br />Pepper, Randall and San Bernardino Avenues to Fisher's <br />Grading. <br />Moved by Councilman Rehrer, seconded by Councilman Lofy, to approve the <br />Consent Calendar. Unanimous vote. <br />MAYOR AND COUNCIL ITEMS: <br />Commendations <br />Mayor Gonzales introduced Mrs. Helen Cortez, Administrative Analyst, <br />who announced the Winners of the Recycling Division Logo Competition <br />held at Platt College in June 1991. Mrs. Cortez stated that it was <br />difficult to select a winner; therefore, three individuals were <br />selected and their entries were combined into the final Logo. The <br />three winners for design were; Kent Salas, Irene Croxe and Leona Axe. <br />Terri Bennett's entry was the color scheme winner. Each winner was <br />presented a Certificate by Mayor Gonzales. <br />Winner Kent Salas, thanked the City for the opportunity afforded Pratt <br />College art students in this project. <br />Mrs. Cortez introduced Mr. Charlie Gabriel, Redlands Federal Bank and <br />Jack and Joe Avakian of Jacks Disposal, Major Sponsors of the <br />Recycle 5K - 10K Run. <br />Mayor Gonzales presented each with a Plaque of Appreciation. Mayor <br />Gonzales acknowledged Human Services employee Genevieve Rodriquez who <br />has been instrumental in coordinating the participation in this event. <br />Presentations <br />Mayor Gonzales thanked Fire Fighters Local 935 for the Mayor's Gavel <br />given to him as a replacement for his missing gavel. <br />vor•oco= <br />The City Council took a 10 -minute Recess. <br />CORRESPONDENCE: <br />Letter from Mr. Jesse Valdivia, Sr., 951 Illinois, Colton.
