PRESENTATIONS: <br />Mayor Gonzales read individually prepared plaques honoring accomplishments of outgoing <br />councilmembers Lofy, Rehrer and Roman. Mayor Gonzales then called upon each of the <br />departing Councilmembers for comments. <br />Councilmember Lofy stated that this was an evening of accomplishments with wide -range <br />expectations. He spoke glowingly of Mayor Gonzales" strong leadership and complimented <br />Councilwoman Cisneros for a tremendous job on RDA. <br />He touched upon the fact that as former Mayor, Councilmember Beltran returns to City <br />service with many years of expertise and as a businesswoman, Councilmember Cook brings <br />operations expertise and accountability. He remarked that Councilmember Deirdre Bennett <br />brings a wealth of dedicated community service and that as educators, Mrs. Bennett and <br />Councilmernber Sandoval provide good reason to believe that the lines of communication <br />with the school system will improve, He mentioned that Councilmember Rios will contribute <br />his prior City Council experience including his knowledge and experience in the fields of <br />planning and engineering, <br />He gave special thanks to City Treasurer Mike Williams and City Clerk Ramos and her staff, <br />He specially thanked Margaret Ramos for all of her help. <br />Mr. Lofy stated that COUncilmember Bud Rehrer is a good man, a religious man, a good <br />father and a tremendous Councilman. <br />Councilmember Lofy announced that he was proud of the present City Council"s <br />accomplishments: Wal-Mart Complex; Cooley Area Development which included K -Mart and <br />the retention of the Price, Club, These activities provided thousands of jobs and revenue, <br />He mentioned that during a time when development was at a standstill in surrounding <br />communities, all major projects were going on in Colton. The City of Colton was held in high <br />esteem by other entities. <br />Worthy of note is the fact that this City Council ensured all City Employees their jobs. Mr. <br />Lofy said "We kept our people," Having served proudly, Mr. Lofy said he never avoided a <br />situation and never suffered from delusions of grandeur, He acknowledged a debt of <br />gratitude to his wife for her patience and understanding, <br />Mayor Gonzales introduced Mr. Dan Torres, representative of Senator Ayala, who read and <br />presented resolutions of recognition to Messrs. Lofy and Rehrer from Senator Ayala and <br />Newly -Elected Member of the Board of Supervisors Eaves. <br />Councilmember Rehrer expressed happiness upon his retirement and thanked everyone, <br />especially his wife Evelyn, for their help and assistance. <br />3 <br />EU <br />
