The duck weed is a cover that groves between 1/4 to 1/2 inches thick, It
thrives on nutrients found in the wastewater and it neutralizes odors. They compared the
City of Colton's geographic size and needs to Boulder City in Nevada; Devil's Lake in North
Dakota and Moorpark in Ventura,
LEMMA is not an entire treatment. After raw waste goes into LEMMA, which includes ultra-
violet disinfection, it proceeds to tertiary sand filter which prevents solids and algae from
growing. It is the cost-effective way to go. There are three parts to the treatment:
Planting, maintaining and harvesting. Mr, McNany informed that the present facility has 3
carousals for a total capacity to B ,million gallons. The LEMA would reduce use to one
carousal and increase capacity to 8 gallons plus achieve nitrogen removal as required. It was
assured that this system does not innpact tertiary or rix treatments,
0
