MAYOR AND COUNCIL ITEMS: <br />R.� ninon <br />Mayor Gonzales read the Resolution of Appreciation which was presented to each member <br />of the Civil Service Board. Present to receive their award were Yolanda Lopez, John <br />Longfield and Manuel Ramirez. The Mayor directed that awards be mailed or delivered to <br />Mrs. Margaret Matich and firs. Carmen Krueger. <br />San Bernardi,no Regional Airoort Authority <br />Mayor Gonzales presented correspondence received from Swen Larson, President of San <br />Bernardino Regional Airport Authority, requesting $7,500 per vote assessment to fund <br />administrative expenses of Authority operations, due and payable on or before ,duly 1, 1992. <br />City Attorney Brown advised that since this is not an agenda item, based on urgency <br />findings, the City Council may vote to consider the subject; thereafter, the City Council may <br />decide on payment of the vote assessment. <br />Based on the deadline set for payment thereof, the Mayor declared this matter an urgency <br />measure. Motion by Councilmernber Cisneros, seconded by Councilrnember Lofy, to allow <br />this item to be added to the agenda for consideration by the City Council. Unanimous vote. <br />Motion by Councilrnernber Lofy, seconded by Councilmember Rehrer, to honor the request <br />by the San Bernardino Regional Airport Authority for immediate payment of $7,500.00 per <br />vote assessment to the San Bernardino Regional Airport Authority. Unanimous vote. <br />!Q0RRE PQNDENCE: <br />Mayor Gonzales read a letter received from the following local war veteran organizations: <br />Veterans of Foreign Wars #6476; American Legion #155; Disabled American Veterans; <br />Catholic War Veterans; Military Order of the Purple Heart; Inland Empire Airborne Association <br />and the Marine Corps League who are requesting the City Council's authorization to plan and <br />build an ALL WAR MEMORIAL to be erected at Hermosa Memorial Cemetery. <br />Mr. Joe Sainz, 1155 West Olive, representing V.F.W. #6476, addressed the City Council on <br />behalf of the veterans' organizations. He pointed out that present memorial has outlived its <br />purpose and design. It is anticipated that the new memorial will be unmatched in its beauty <br />and design. Mr. Sainz stated that the war veterans were not asking for money. Their <br />objective was to erect a monument to honor all the men and women in the military service <br />of this country who offered their lives for our freedom. The monument will be designed to <br />recall all wars. When completed the monument will be dedicated at its new site, the Olive <br />Street entrance to the cemetery.
