Mayor Gonzales introduced Councilman Lofy who read the City Council's Proclamation <br />calling for all citizens to make a lifetime habit of gearing safety seat belts and securing <br />children in safety seats every time they travel in motor vehicles. Mayor Gonzales, with <br />approval of the City Council, proclaimed the remaining holiday months of 1992 and all of <br />1993 as BUCKLE UP FOR LIFE CHALLENGE. <br />Red Ribbon Week <br />Mayor Gonzales announced the City's commitment to join the "Neighbors -Drug Free and <br />Proud" Campaign. After reading the proclamation, the Mayer declared October 24 to <br />November 1, 1932 as RED RIBBON MEEK. <br />Commission A000intmen <br />Mayor Gonzales submitted Councilman Roman's request for reappointment of Mr. Randy <br />Wyatt to a four-year term on the Planning Commission. bearing no objection from the City <br />Council Mayor Gonzales acknowledged Mr. George Fulp's request to address this agenda <br />item. <br />Mr. George Fulp, 1497 Cindee Ln., angrily charged the irresponsible selection of a man who <br />was charged with running down a lady police officer and who has been awarded one <br />contract after another. He directed a delay of the reappointment until after the general <br />election when a neve City Council can address this matter. <br />Mr. Henry Mendoza, 484 Wiest M Street, expressed that it was proper and fair that the re- <br />appointment be held for designation by someone new. <br />Mr. Fabio Torres, 1847 W. Westwind, believed that Mr. Roman was trying to "sneak" in this <br />re -appointment and stated that it should be held until after November 3rd. <br />Motion by Councilman Romans seconded by Councilman Lofy, to approve the re -appointment <br />is carried after a roll call vote wherein Councilmembers Roman, Lofy and Mayor Gonzales <br />voted "yes" and Councilrnembers Cisneros and Rehrer voted "'No." <br />Ballot Measure <br />Mayor Gonzales stated that, after careful study and consideration, he was recommending <br />endorsement of ballot measures as requested by Mr. Fred Cordova. <br />Motion by Councilmernber Cisneros, seconded by Councilrnember Lofy to endorse the YE <br />vote as to Proposition 182, the NO vote on Proposition 165 and YES vete for Preposition <br />167.
