attended the 10 -day tournament where 5 different cities were represented. Where it was <br />first determined that this City did not have adequate facilities to host this tournament, Mr, <br />Hernandez eloquently stated that through major efforts of the members of the City Council <br />and the honored staff members, especially those of Parks and Recreation Director Ken <br />Merron, the matter was turned around and the Girls Softball League enjoyed its success, The <br />members of the City Council were each presented with T-shirts bearing the Carl Rimbaugh's <br />Girls Softball League loge and each member received pins. <br />Councilman Lofy commended Mr. Hernandez and his staff for a well-planned and highly <br />organized event. He stated that he had attended and noted that everything went like <br />clockwork, It was a great tournament. Everyone's behavior was great. The officials were <br />excellent. Where was great comaraderie amongst participating teams and it was good family <br />participation. He congratulated the girls --the champions. <br />CORRESPONDENCE: <br />Rancho Medi errania Conversion <br />Mayor Gonzales acknowledged receipt of Mr. William K. Kalogonis' letter dated August 26, <br />1992 regarding his concerns on the Conversion of Rancho Mediterrania. As a member of <br />the steering committee, Mr. Kalogonis spoke about the lack of communication which <br />rendered the residents frustrated and fearful that the City is no longer committed to their <br />cause. In the beginning the City's commitment was strong and it was predicted that this <br />matter would be accomplished within 60-90 days. More than 120 days have passed and <br />negotiations appear to be at an impasse with no end in sight. He asked that the following <br />issues be addressed: Speed of the project; terms of negotiation; terms of finalization; price <br />of the park, financing and the question of condemnation. He asked the Council to direct the <br />City Manager to Investigate the issues for the hold up of the conversion. He requested that <br />a member or members of the steering committee be included in the negotiating team. <br />Mayor Gonzales reaffirmed the City's commitment to finish the project and directed all <br />members involved to cooperate with each other. Mayor Gonzales asked City Manager Lewis <br />for an update. City Manager Lewis presented an overview of steps taken. He stated that <br />the City was embarking on a complex and difficult phase of converting mobile owners to <br />homeowners. He assured that the committee works on this matter on a daily basis. He <br />compared the conversion to a big condominium. He pointed to the fact that 250 park <br />residents will be going through escrows simultaneously. Mr. Lewis stated that it is <br />anticipated that the conversion project will be completed by the end of January 1993, <br />Mr, Lewis asked for everyone's help, patience and cooperati <br />
