probably occur around September. <br />Councilmember Beltran stated he was not opposed to the ambulance <br />service, only to the process followed. <br />Mayor Gonzales said the City was expecting to lose in Redlands <br />and that is why a change in venue is being requested. We could <br />not expect to win in front of a Judge whose salary is established <br />by the Board of Supervisors. <br />Councilmember Sandoval.. said Councilmember Beltran .had alluded <br />earlier to the cost of $300,000 for the ambulances and he <br />inderstood the ambulances were on a. lease agreement.. Fire Chef <br />Hall reported that the ambulances are on a lease purchase <br />agreement with an annual payment of $186,000 however, the first <br />half payment of $53,000 is not due until July of next year. <br />Councilmember Bennett inquired as to lack of revenue shown for <br />Weed Abatement and DARE. City Manager young replied that the <br />Weed Abatement is contracted out to the County of San Bernardino <br />and. the DARE program revenue is based on donations that cannot be <br />predetermined. <br />Library <br />City Librarian David Davis, outlined the purpose of the library <br />and highlighted some accomplishments. Librarian Davis then <br />introduced each of the following individuals who briefly outlined <br />their functions and library services: Lisa Nunez, Administrative <br />Secretary; Nancy Jackson, Manager Circulation Department; Melissa <br />Prado, Audio Visual.; Romana DelaRosa, Library Clerk; Irene <br />Pedroza, Luque Branch Librarian; Rachel Lague, Library Clergy.; <br />Maryann .Ponder, Literacy Coordinator; and Ruth Martinez, Library <br />Clerk/Luque Library. <br />Librarian Davis then introduced two .ladies who have participated <br />in the literacy program, Ms. Antonia. Diaz, mother of three, <br />expressed her gratefulness for the opportunity to learn to read. <br />Ms. Dolores Haywood, also expressed her appreciation for the <br />program. <br />Moved. by Councilmember Cisneros, seconded by Councilmember <br />Bennett, to tentatively approve the Library Budget. Motion <br />carried. Councilmember Beltran abstained. <br />Electric <br />Electric Utility Director Cale Drews presented a brief history of <br />the Electric Utility, bringing the Council up-to-date on the <br />nuclear energy and non-firm projects in which the.
