Recreation, Parks and Human Services <br />Mr. Max Bowman, Interim Recreation, Parks and Human, Services <br />Director, :reported that the department's preliminary budget had <br />.been reviewed by the Recreation and Parks Commission in April. <br />Director Bowrian introduced the following Staff members who <br />presented an overview of their functions and the services <br />provided Bengie Ibarra, Activities Managers Eric mood, special <br />Projects; :sue Brigham, Childcare Coordinator; Rita Coronado, <br />Early Intervention Counselor. <br />Councilmember Bennett stated she would like staff to look at a <br />day camp program that targets year-round schools. Councilmember <br />Beltran inquired about bicycle paths. It is his understanding <br />that the City has received a grant from SANBAG. Mr. 'food replied <br />that paths for non -motorized bicycle paths is being looked at. <br />Public 'ores Director, Hutton said a grant has been received by <br />Public Works from the State of California to proceed with the <br />preliminary survey and engineering and once initiated the plans <br />will go the state for approval. <br />City Manager Young reported that the Early Intervention Counselor <br />position is a position that he has proposed be transferred. to <br />General. Government from Recreation, Parks & Human Services. <br />Councilmember Beltran said that $25,000 had been budgeted to <br />repair the plunge and since the plunge could not be repaired for <br />that price the monies should be transferred to where they are <br />needed. Director Bowman stated that some of the $25,000 has been <br />expended in fixing the fence and security of the premises. <br />Councilmember Beltran said he would like a breakdown of the <br />expenses. <br />Councilmember Rios asked how Mr. Bowman is employed. City <br />Manager Young responded that Mr. Bowman was hired through the <br />League of California Cities. He is being paid salary and car <br />allowance, no benefits are being provided. <br />Moved by Councilmember Bennett, seconded .by Councilmember Cook, <br />to tentatively approve the Human Services budget with the <br />addition to direct staff to look at expanding the Child Care <br />Program and budget. Unanimous vote. <br />PUBLIC HEARING <br />Landscape Maintenance Dst. 1 <br />Magor Gonzales announced that this was the Time and Place Fixed <br />to Approve the Engineer's Report for Levy of Annual Assessments <br />for FY 1993-94 for the Landscape Maintenance District No. 1; and. <br />the Time and Place Fixed for Hearings to Consider Ordering the <br />Continued Operation of the Landscape Maintenance District No. 11 <br />Confirming ing the Assessment and.
