to waive full reading and pass First Reading of ordinance No. 0-20- <br />93. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 0-20-93 ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COLTON COMMUNITY <br />(First Reading) FACILITIES DISTRICT NO. 90-1 ESTABLISHING <br />ANNUAL SPECIAL TAX FOR FISCAL YEAR 1993- <br />94. <br />PUBLIC COMMENT: <br />M 1 <br />un*-ciRal Pool <br />Mr. and Mrs. Felipe Flares, 12740 Royal Ave. , Grand Terrace, spoke <br />about the swimming pool, their work with the USS Swimming Team and <br />their efforts to rebuild a team, after loosing members to <br />surrounding swimming teams due to lack of a swimming pool. Last <br />year at a USC Swim Meet, the team won 8 medals. They said that <br />last Saturday, Frank Guerrero from Parks and Recreation had set <br />them up to swim at Eisenhower High School in Rialto. They asked <br />about the status of the City's plunge and said there is funding <br />available for the pool through the state and USS Swim Headquarters. <br />City Manager Young and Director Bowman relayed that the pool is <br />impossible to repair. The estimate of $100,000 is cost prohibitive <br />at this time. He indicated staff is looking at plans for a future <br />teen center which would include a swimming pool. These plans are <br />at the architectural design stage. <br />Ms. Roma Smith, 782 Berry St. , thanked the Mayor, City Council and <br />Staff for keeping the Hutton and Luque Centers open. <br />Waste Management Board <br />Councilmember Bennett announced that the State of California <br />Integrated Waste Management Board will conduct a meeting at City <br />Hall on August 12, 1.993 from 9:30 A. M. to 3:30 P. M. <br />RECESS* <br />At 8:20 P. M., Mayor Gonzales declared a brief recess and at 8:38 <br />P. M. the meeting reconvened with all Members present as <br />heretofore. <br />CLOSED SESSION <br />The City Council adjourned to Closed Session at 8:40 P. M., to <br />discuss Personnel Matters, pursuant to Government Code Section <br />54957 and Litigation Matters, pursuant to Government Code Section <br />54956.9(a). <br />Deputy City Attorney Biggs advised Council that the issues of <br />performance and hiring are appropriate for Closed Session; however, <br />R <br />A r, <br />U U. -01 <br />
