M.,, with all Councilmembers <br />present as heretofore. <br />CITY MANAGER'S REPORTS AND RECOMMENDATION: <br />City AttpXney <br />Mayor Gonzales announced that subsequent to Closed Session this <br />item is continued to the Adjourned Meeting of August 9, 1993. <br />City Managgr <br />Mayor Gonzales announced that this item is continued to the <br />Adjourned Meeting of August 9, 1993. <br />Motion by Councilmember Bennett, seconded by Councilmember Sandoval <br />to, conduct a benchmark study to determine the average salary of <br />cities the size of Colton, as well as the local surrounding cities. <br />Motion carried. unanimous vote. <br />civil Service Board Appeal <br />Mayor Gonzales announced that this matter is continued to the <br />J <br />Ad3ourned Meeting of August 9, 1993, for final determination. <br />Comments re City Manager <br />Messrs. Jim Sullivan, Martin Vega, Fred Cordova, Reginald Johnson, <br />Celio Olivar, Jerry Ramirez and Mayor Gonzales spoke in favor of <br />City Manager Jerry Young, for action taken in the Agua Mansa area, <br />for his support of the City specifically the graffiti program and <br />boxing clubs, its Departments and its employees, and the balanced <br />budget. They urged the Council to keep him as City Manager. <br />Councilmember Bennett stated that the motive for her motion to <br />establish a benchmark as to the City Manager's salary had been <br />i <br />misinterpreted. She believed she owed her district the effort to <br />obtain information from surrounding municipalities. <br />Mrs. Margie Ramirez compared City Manager Young's managerial style <br />to the previous manager,'s style and exclaimed that morale had <br />improved greatly. She noted that progress was being made in the <br />City.
