Mayor and Councilmembers <br />presented those present with a certificate of appointment. The <br />newly appointed Youth Board and the public were invited to <br />refreshments In the lobby. <br />The City Council recessed at 7.*05 . m m The Council reconvened at <br />7430 .b, all members present. <br />IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH <br />Mayor Gonzales asked for action on the request from Immaculate <br />Conception Church for City assistance and services in celebration <br />of its 50th Anniversary. <br />Moved by Councilmember Cisneros, seconded by Councilmember Rios, <br />to approve the request. Motion arrigid . Unanimous vote. <br />Affirmative Action Committee <br />Personnel Director Johnson reported the Affirmative Action <br />Committee met to discuss implementation of the Affirmative Action <br />Task Force: a recommendations. Members present were <br />C'ouncilmembers Beltran, Bennett and Cisneros. Also present were <br />Mel Al iso, Julie Binge: Gwen Brown, Sandy Knight and Mr. <br />Johnson. <br />Director Johnson stated the Councilmembers on the Committee <br />directed him to: <br />1. Prepare and send. them a draft job description for ive <br />Action Officer with a proposed salary range. This proposed <br />position would report directly to the Mayor and City Council. <br />2. Prepare a draft pian to implement the Affirmative Action Task <br />Force's 13 recommendations and send it to them by November 30, <br />for their review prior to aged zing it for full Council <br />co <br />n ' dera'tion a <br />The Committee would like the Affirmative .tin Officer to start <br />working before a, decision is made on whether or not to create a <br />Affirmative Action Commission. <br />Councilmember Beltran stated that he would like to see the <br />rec <br />° i tment stopped. for the Marketing and Development Director <br />and. the salary for that position utilized to hire arsAffirmative <br />Action Officer. The report from Personnel Director Johnson is <br />that a plan will net be drafted until the Affirmative Action <br />4 <br />
