School for <br />approval'¢�of y the paraderoute for its Homecoming Parade scheduled on. <br />October 8, 1993 t 5:00 p.m. <br />Moved by Councilmember Beltran, seconded. by Councilmember Cisneros, <br />to approve the Homecoming Parade and route for the Colton High. <br />School as requested. Motion carried. Unanimous vote. <br />PUBLIC HEARING: <br />Historic Landmark #36 <br />Mayor Gonzales announced that this was the Time and. Place Fixed. to <br />Consider the Designation of Historic Landmark #36, Located at 386 <br />South a Cadens Drive. <br />Mayor Gonzales declared the Public Hearing open. <br />Citi` Clerk Ramos submitted. the Affidavit of Publication and <br />reported that no written protests or o cti ons had been received <br />Community Development Director Zamora reported the designation for <br />this structure was requested b the property owner, Henry Saldana <br />and. the Historic and Scenic Preservation Commission. Tie structure <br />is significant under the City of Colton's Historic and. Scenic <br />Preservation Ordinance due to it representing an established and <br />familiar visual feature of the neighborhood. The structure located <br />at 386 South La Cadena Drive was originally a roadside stand <br />located at the corner of La Cadena Drive and Laurel Avenue. The <br />stand was purchased in 1937 by Mr. Saldanals grandfather and mored <br />the same year to its present location. The stand has become a <br />established and familiar visual feature of the South La, Cadena. <br />Corridor dor over 50 years and st:il.l bears the original "Root Beer <br />5<," sign on several sides of the building. On April 21, 1993, the <br />Code Enforcement Division received a. complaint concerning sub- <br />standard conditions of the structure and subsequently a. "Notice and <br />order to Abate" was issued. on May 4r 1993* however, this order was <br />placed on hold pending the designation of the stand as a. historic <br />At its meeting of August 1.1 , 1993, the Historic and Scenic <br />Preservation Commission recommended approval of the stand as a <br />3 <br />
