CM Mitchell/Hernandez added that the City might add it to the <br />Recreation Brochure and Public Access Channel 3. City Manager Parrish asked that the <br />School District provide the statement to be included in the utility bill. <br />Mayor Bennett explained that City Manager Parrish presented each Board member with the <br />City of Colton Vision statement card. City Manager Parrish went on to explain the visions of the <br />City, which also included in its statement the importance of an education and further <br />emphasized the Bridge Committee. <br />Rick Dischinger, Director of Administrative Services, provided an overview on current safety <br />concerns in our area schools such as before and after school traffic congestion. He suggested <br />periodic additional patrols and enforcement. <br />Police Chief Rulon provided a PowerPoint presentation and handouts on the new CAL PAL <br />program, which would benefit youth of our community. He explained that this program is <br />intended to enhance the partnership between the Police and the School District, as it is directed <br />at current youth issues that effect students and their environment. He went on to explain the <br />condition of the Colton Middle School Resource Officer Hoffman, who was recently injured in a <br />ATV accident, although Officer Hoffmans absence placed a burden on Police Department to <br />service schools, staff was assigned to continue to serve at the Middle School until his return in <br />approximately three months. Board member Mendoza -Ware expressed her heartfelt concerns, <br />as well as those of students who had recently asked when he would return to duty. Discussion <br />continued with positive student feedback. <br />Dave Capelouto, Interim Assistant Superintendent of Business, expressed his concerns on the <br />projected dates for the field lighting construction at Colton Middle School, as there were no <br />alternate sites for the Colton Youth Soccer League to use during the construction phase. He <br />suggested that even though any construction might impact the school, that the City speak with <br />contractor to move up the construction dates.
