He added that the City appreciated the cooperation of District in <br />distributing special event flyers and the bus transportation provided for transportation of <br />underserved residents to the Gonzales Community Center. He announced that Moss Bros. of <br />Colton had recently donated a vehicle that was going to be used for a mobile recreation <br />program. Superintendent Byas suggested that scheduled use of Colton High School field be <br />reviewed due to maintenance work during dates listed. <br />Mayor Bennett explained the importance in forming the student commissioners. CM Mitchell <br />also spoke in favor of this commission and his concern with the delay in its formation. CM <br />Zamora requested assistance from the Board in reestablishing the shadowing day for Colton <br />High School Seniors. <br />Rick Dischinger, Director of Administrative Services, provided an overview on current safety <br />concerns in regards to crosswalk at McKinley School. He suggested that the City consider the <br />need of a crosswalk at Serrano and Johnston. Also discussed was the need for additional <br />crossing guards. Mr. Dischinger reported that teachers are volunteering to be crossing guards. <br />Discussion ensued about safety and consistent training methods. <br />The following citizens addressed the Council and School Board Members: Anita Gutierrez <br />representing Assemblyman John Longville and Mark Hoover, Bloomington Chamber of <br />Commerce. <br />Board member Lopez -Carson acknowledged former Board member Abril and his guest <br />candidate Martin Valdez. <br />Mayor Bennett challenged the Board members to for a Bridges Committee within the next 30 <br />Days. Boardmember Brinker affirmed that he would accept the challenge and serve on the <br />committee. <br />At 7:49 p.m., with consensus of Council and Board of Education, Mayor Bennett and President <br />Ibarra declared the Special Meeting adjourned. <br />Olivia R.
