upcoming Legislative Days in Sacramento, on May 12 — 14, 2004, this Item was received April <br />26th after the posting of the agenda. <br />Motion/second by CM Ramos/Hernandez to add this as Item 4A, with no opposition from the <br />Council. <br />Mayor Bennett nominated CM Chastain for delegate and volunteered herself as alternate. <br />Motion/second by CM Bennett/Hernandez to appoint CM Chastain as delegate. Motion carried <br />with CM Zamora absent. <br />Motion/second by CM Chastain/Hernandez to appoint Mayor Bennett as alternate. Motion <br />carried with CM Zamora absent. <br />Cellular Telephone Policy <br />City Manager Parrish provided an overview of the report as requested by CM Hernandez to put <br />general cellular telephone policy in the City due to discontents with Nextel. City Manager <br />explained that staff was directed to research staff issues on problems with current service, <br />memo was prepared and the conclusion was that it is not at the level to recommend eliminating <br />Nextel as a provider. Survey was done on services available and costs associated, matrix was <br />prepared by Jason Jaurigue, create a cell phone stipend where member could go out and <br />choose a company on their own. <br />Discussion by Council continued regarding problems encountered such as dropped calls and no <br />loss of service in various areas, suggestions by members were to consider another service <br />provider or consideration of a cellular phone stipend for Councilmember's only. <br />City Manager Parrish suggested and Council concurred that staff be directed to prepare a <br />comprehensive survey to include all city employee Nextel users, and present results to Council <br />along with an invitation to Nextel to provide a short presentation on the services they offer, <br />followed by discussion and solutions to problems presented from survey. <br />Member Comments: <br />➢ Broadcast reception <br />➢ Invitation to children to write letters <br />to servicemen in Iraq <br />➢ ICRMA Insurance workshop <br />➢ Water line replacement <br />➢ Unity Day, Saturday May 15, 2004 <br />➢ Slover Mt.
