�. children and grandchildren are asthmatic, has had to call code enforcement regarding pallets <br />that end up in her property, echoed concerns expressed by Mr. Vasquez. <br />Dana Vera — spoke against the project, she resides in the immediate area of the pallet <br />company, concerned with noise, unsafe truck traffic for the children, stationed railroad cars pose <br />a safety risk for children who try to climb over them on the way hone from school, agreed with <br />comments by previous speakers. <br />Amador Roman — spoke against the project and presented a copy of signed petition along with <br />pictures of surrounding businesses, has also called code enforcement due to the blocking in the <br />streets, noise due to new equipment in use, conditional use permit violations, potential fire <br />hazards, request for additional 10 acres to the 6-7 already in use, type of restrooms for the <br />employees, safety risk for children climb walls due to curiosity. <br />Ray Abril — spoke against the project in support of the residents surrounding the pallet <br />company, reference the newspaper article on the number of lumber trucks coming into the area <br />and the potential safety hazards. <br />Susanne Townbridge - Spoke against the project, she is a resident of the area since 1983, is <br />concerned with the noise and traffic as it is not conducive to the proposed regional park. <br />David Avena — Pallet Company representative, spoke in favor of the project, he reviewed all <br />concerns expressed by neighboring community members and proposed possible corrections to <br />remedy the concerns. He expressed his desire to keep a good neighbor policy with the <br />,,.., community, will do everything to meet their concerns and hopes to generate new jobs for the <br />community. <br />Virginia Garcia — Daughter of Mr. Avena, spoke in favor of the project, she explained that the <br />company was cooperating with the City to donate land to the proposed regional park with <br />conditions that would allow for 10 acres to the project, and addressed the concerns of the <br />community, has acquired all necessary permits for the business. <br />Fred Cordova — Spoke against this project, expressing concerns with the additional truck traffic <br />that would cause delays in travel time to work. <br />Motion/second by CM Hernandez/Suchil to close public hearing. Unanimous vote. <br />Discussion continued with CM Suchil expressing concerns on request for zone change to the <br />general plan, he further expressed his support for the Planning Commission decision. <br />Motion/second by CM Suchil/Hernandez to uphold the Planning Commission decision and <br />approve and adopt Resolution No. R-160-05. <br />Discussion continued with CM De La Rosa expressing his concerns on the potential truck traffic <br />in the area. CM Chastain explained the need to look at the best interest of the city, the potential <br />impacts of the projects as well as the benefits. CM Hernandez expressed his concerns on the <br />project area, safety to the community due to the proposed increased truck traffic. CM Ramos <br />expressed her support for the businesses of the community and the expansions, and <br />recognized the comments of concerns of the residents and asked for the community to provide <br />input on future development and expansion of the project area.
