Presentations, Awards, Proclamations <br />Presentation Police Chief Rulon introduced New Police Officers, Lloyd Sanderson, <br />Ernie Frank, Rico Carrillo, Wade Harris, Samuel Smith, and Anthony <br />Jaeger. Senior Deputy City Clerk Flores administered the Oath of Office <br />to the six new officers. <br />Presentation Candace Cassel, RDA Manager, invited Judy Clarke, RDA Project <br />Manager 11, who introduced the City of Colton business spotlight recipient <br />Miller's Honey Company, founded in 1894 in Utah by Nephite E. Miller, <br />Father of Migratory Beekeeping and located a branch in Colton in 1910, <br />based on climate and the orange groves in the area and the railroad <br />centers in San Bernardino and Colton. In the early years the Miller family <br />lived in Utah for half of the year and in Colton for the other half <br />maintaining a residence at 467 E. "C" Street and finally at 1301 N. gth <br />Street, Nephite Miller's son Woodrow Miller former City Councilmember <br />from 1945 to 1964 and also Mayor of Colton from 1956 to 1960 ran the <br />company followed by his son and daughter in law. Mayor Bennett <br />presented a certificate of appreciation to Steven C. Smith, representative <br />for Miller's Honey for their contributions to the city's Business Spotlight <br />Implementation Plan <br />This was the time and place fixed to consider approval of agency Resolution 839 which adopts <br />the 2005-2009 redevelopment implementation plan <br />The Mayor declares the Public Hearing "Open". <br />Senior Deputy City Clerk Flores said the Affidavit of Publication calling the Public Hearing was <br />on file in the City Clerk's Office and stated that no protests or objections were received. <br />Redevelopment Agency Manager Cassel requests this item be continued to a later date. <br />Mayor Bennett declared the Public Hearing continued to March 1, 2005 Regular Council <br />Meeting. <br />Restaurant Grading <br />This was the time and place fixed to consider the ordinance adding chapter 6.06 to the <br />municipal code to adopt by reference chapter 14 of division 3 of title 3 and subsection <br />16.0213b(b)(17) of chapter 2 of division 6 of title 1, all of the San Bernardino county code (San <br />Bernardino county ordinance no. 3930) relating to inspection grading of food establishments. <br />The Mayor declares the Public Hearing "Open" <br />Senior Deputy City Clerk Flores said the Affidavit of Publication calling the Public Hearing was <br />on file in the City Clerk's Office and stated that no protests or objections were received. <br />City Manager Parrish provided a summary of the Ordinance explaining that this was the second <br />reading. <br />2005 FEBRUARY 15 REG CC/RDA/CUA MEETING -3- <br />
