Community Development Director presented an overview of the agenda item for Council <br />consideration and requested approval of staff's recommendation to approve and adopt <br />Resolution No. R -14A-05. <br />Public Comment <br />The following citizens addressed the City Council on consideration for CDBG Funds behalf of <br />their organization: <br />Joseph Rodriguez, Founder of Gang Reduction Intervention (GRIT), San Bernardino County, <br />request funding or support for this program which has served at risk youth at the local schools. <br />Lionel Mujica, Legal Aid Society of San Bernardino, Non profit organization dedicated to provide <br />free legal services to residents in City of Colton that do not have resources or understanding on <br />how to access the court and obtain court orders. <br />Fred Cordova, Community Action Block Grant Organization introduced Charles Adams, Deputy <br />Director of Community Action Partnership of San Bernardino County. He explained how the <br />organization operated a nutrition program for approximately 20 years in the City of Colton, and <br />requests funding for nutrition centers located at Hutton and Luque Center. Mr. Cordova went on <br />to further explain about the organization and its goals. <br />Deborah Sutton, Behavioral Health Programs Coordinator for Vista Guidance Centers, <br />prevention intervention alcohol and drug programs for adolescents in the Colton Unified School <br />District. <br />Steve Lozolla, Director of Enhancing Forward Action/OPP Program, explained the vision of the <br />organization. <br />Emelly Rosspencer and Kimberly Hooper, Inland Temporary Homes, provides temporary <br />housing to the homeless, case management and ongoing support for families in the Inland <br />Empire who have no place to live. <br />Armando Diaz, Campfire USA, Mt. San Antonio Council, requests funds to subsidize camping <br />trips for twenty low income boys or girls for the City of Colton. <br />Gregory Alvarado, Old Timers Foundation, explained that this was an organization which <br />focuses on enhancing the daily lives of senior in the community. They offer a minor home repair <br />program for independent seniors that are no longer able to make certain safety repairs in their <br />home. <br />Carine Waters, Operation Troupe, adult literacy program and employment training education <br />program. <br />Rev. Steven Vines, Chief Executive Officer of San Bernardino Valley Community Development <br />Corporation, affiliate of Inland Valley Empire Conservation Corps, providing programs for the <br />low-income and homeless community. <br />Fernando Meza, Director, Inland Valley Justice Center, Community Resolution Dispute <br />Resolution Program. This program offers mediation services, conciliation services to help the <br />residents of Colton resolve disputes that do not have to go to court. <br />2005 MARCH 01 REG CC/RDA/CUA MEETING -4- <br />
