Mayor Bennett said
the total budgeted amount allocated to the Sister City. Finance Director De Alwis confirmed these
monies are in the General Fund.
CM Mitchell if we are going to do a sister city program we need to have funds available for that
program and there are other ways to donate for the Katrina Relief Fund.
CM Chastain there are a lot of good intentions and maybe go back to the Sister City sub-
committee and discuss what will be the needs; and/or a partial donation; and the Board of
Supervisors are going to the area and supporting a small city and if we found another city that is
still under the realm of a sister city and look for a city in Mississippi, Georgia, small hospital where
a donation would make a bigger impact;
Mayor Bennett we could look at cities that are in need of help and do as the county board of
supervisors did by supporting a sister city; have staff do some research and come. back with
several recommendations;
Motion/second by CM Ramos/Mitchell to have staff come back in a form of a resolution with a
blank dollar amount and recommendations of possible entities with suggested recipients. No
opposition to the motion.
• Approve Authorization for Council to Appoint Voting Member and Designate Alternate for
Zone 2 Zone Advisory Committee.
Discussion and with no opposition Mayor Bennett announced, Councilmember Mitchell will serve
as the voting member and Mayor Bennett will serve as the alternate.
BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS:
Appointments - Pursuant to MC§ Section 2.30.030 — Manner of Appointment.
CM Chastain announced there are two vacancies for District 3 on Utilities Commission and Civil
Service Board.
11
