Such apparatus may <br />4j1 be installed as set forth in Section 5c, if arrangements are made to dis- <br />i <br />51 pose of the waste water by other means than that of discharge to the <br />6 sewers of Colton or to the ground in any place where it might pollute any <br />7 II <br />usuable water supply. Such apparatus includes zeolite and resinous ion - <br />8 exchange softeners in commercial soft -water service establishments and <br />9the addition of ion -exchange materials to water softeners is included in <br />` <br />10 I the operations limited by this Section. <br />y <br />1 l l Section 5b - Within ninety (90) days after the effective date <br />1 <br />12 of this ordinance, any person desiring to install, enlarge, replace, maintain <br />13 or use any water -treating apparatus, or to regenerate ion -exchange water <br />14 softeners in a commercial establishment, or to add ion -exchange materials <br />15 i to any water softeners excepting where water service is to a single family <br />16 dwelling, shall submit to the Public Works Director a letter describing the <br />17 existing or intended installation or alteration and describing the arrange - <br />1 8I ments which will serve to prevent improper discharge of the waste water. <br />1 <br />-19 il Within ninety (90) days the Public Works Director shall reply stating <br />I� <br />201 whether or not the disposal arrangements are adequate to insure against the <br />21 I addition of mineral salts to the sewage or the -ground.
