Alteration in the method of <br />disposal may be made only after communication to the Public Works Director <br />and a receipt of a letter of approval as in the first instance. <br />Section 5c - A person installing or operating water -treating <br />apparatus of the kind described in Section 5a shall make such apparatus <br />accessible to the Public Works Director for inspection, and shall make <br />such reports as the Public Works Director may request as to the operation <br />of the apparatus. <br />Section 5d - Any water treating apparatus which has a rated <br />capacity less than five gallons in an 8 -hour period shall be exempt from <br />the provisions of this ordinance. Multiple units installed to supply <br />water -to the same points of use shall be considered as a single apparatus <br />for `the purposes of this section. <br />SECTION SIX: Special restrictions - Industrial Waste Waters <br />Section 6a - Any person desiring to discharge industrial waste <br />water into a public sewer in Colton in an amount exceeding 100 gallons in <br />any one day shall submit a letter to the Public Works Director presenting <br />information as to the kind and size of the industrial operations producing <br />the waste water, the quantity and characteristics of the waste water, de- <br />tailed plans for any pretreatment facilities planned to prevent discharge <br />of improper materials to the sewer, and any other information requested by <br />the Public Works Director. If the Public Works Director finds that the <br />quality of the water for discharge to the sewer and existing facilities or <br />facilities for which the person furnishes a committment to install within <br />a reasonable period conform to the requirements of this and other ordinances <br />of the City; that any existing or committed pretreatment facilities are <br />adequate; and that the sewer capacity is available; he shall reply approving <br />the discharge of that waste water to the sewer. A letter of approval shall <br />state the nature of the industry and the nature and amount of flow which <br />the applicant may discharge to the sewer, shall include any restrictions <br />which the Public Works Director finds necessary in order that the sewerage <br />system may serve its intended purpose, and in the event that installation <br />-7- <br />
