The datum for measurement of such heights, except
a
as otherwise specified shall be the elevation, based on the i
I
U.S.G.S. datum of the airport reference point (A.R.P.), which
is given the established airport elevation.
i
b. The height limit for each type of zone ils hereby
established as follows: i
;
(1) PRIMARY ZONE: A surface longitudinally centered
on a runway and extending on either side of any beyond each end
of, a runway. The elevation of any point on the longitudinal
Iprofi16 of a primary zone, including the extensions, coincides
with the elevation of the centerline of the runway, or extension,
as appropriate.
(2) APPROACH ZONES (ILS) : A surface longitudinally !
centered on the extended centerline of an ILS runway, beginning
(at the end of the primary zone and extending outward and upward
at a slope of 50 to 1 for a horizontal distance of 10,000 feet
I
,and at a slope of 40 to 1 for an additional 40,000 feet. This
i surface is the width of the primary zone at the beginning and
1
;expands uniformly to a width of 16,000 feet at a distance of
i
150,000 feet from the end of the primary zone.
i
(3) APPROACH ZONES (Non -ILS): A surface longitudinally
centered on the extended centerline of the runway, beginning at
the end of the primary zone with slopes and dimensions as follows:
i
(a) Airports constructed to "VFR Airports" standards
I
i
surface begins 200 feet wide at the end of the primary zone and
i
extends outward and upward at a slope of 20 to 1, expanding to
i
!a width of 500 feet at a horizontal distance of 3,000 feet.
I
i
i
