<br />of general circulation, printed and published in
<br />the City of Colton, State of California, County of
<br />San Bernardino, and which newspaper is published
<br />for the dissemination of local news and intelli-
<br />gence of a general character, and which newspaper
<br />at all the times herein mentioned had and still
<br />has a bona fide subscription list of paying sub-
<br />scribers, and which newspaper has been estab-
<br />lished, printed and published at regular intervals
<br />in the said City of Colton, State of California,
<br />County of San Bernardino, for a period exceeding
<br />one year next preceding the date of publication of
<br />the notice hereinafter referred to; and which news-
<br />paper is not devoted to nor published for the in-
<br />terests, entertainment or instruction of a particular
<br />class, profession, trade, calling, race, or denomin-
<br />ation, or any number of same; that the notice, of
<br />which the annexed is a printed copy, has been
<br />published in each regular and entire issue of said
<br />newspaper and not in any supplement thereof on

<br />LEGAL NOTICE
<br />ORDINANCE NO. 1374
<br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING
<br />SECTION III AND SECTION X
<br />OF ORDINANCE NO. 548.
<br />The City Council of the City of
<br />Colton does ordain as follows:
<br />SECTION I. That Section III of
<br />Ordinance No. 548, An Ordinance
<br />entitled "An Ordinance Prohibiting
<br />the Drinking or Consumption of
<br />Alcoholic Beverages, and
<br />Drunkenness in Public Places" be
<br />amended to read as follows:
<br />SECTION III
<br />It shall be unlawful for any person
<br />to transport or carry into, have in his
<br />possession, consume or knowingly
<br />be in the presence of any article or
<br />object containing alcoholic beverage
<br />in or on any public park in the City of
<br />Colton.
<br />SECTION 11. That Section X of
<br />Ordinance No. 548 be amended to
<br />I read as follows:
<br />SECTION X
<br />Any person violating or failing to
<br />comply with the provisions of. this
<br />ordinance shall be guilty of . a
<br />misdemeanor, and upon conviction
<br />thereof, shall be punished by a fine
<br />not exceeding five hundred ($500.00)
<br />dollars or by, imprisonment for "a
<br />period r(ot exceeding three months,
<br />or by both such fine and °im-
<br />prisonment.
<br />SECTION Ill. This ordinance,
<br />which, is for the immediate
<br />preservation of the public peace,`
<br />health and safety, shall take effect
<br />immediately upon its adoption and
<br />publication. The facts constituting
<br />the urgency therefor are as follows:
<br />drinking of alcoholic beverage in
<br />public places in the City of Colton is
<br />increasing generally, and con-
<br />stitutes a menance to the free use
<br />and enjoyment of such public places
<br />by other people, and has resulted in
<br />women and children being subiected
<br />to various indignities and insults
<br />that the police department is at
<br />present unable to cope with the
<br />condition without an ordinance
<br />declaring the practice to be a
<br />criminal offense.
<br />PASSED, ADOPTED and AP-
<br />PROVED this 15th day of Sep-
<br />tember, 1970.
