2 <br />3� <br />4 <br />5 <br />8 <br />9 <br />10 <br />11 <br />12 <br />13 <br />14 <br />15 <br />16 <br />i <br />17 <br />18 <br />19 <br />I <br />20 <br />21 <br />i <br />22 <br />23 <br />24 <br />25 <br />26 <br />27 <br />28 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 3747 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF COLTON, CALIFORNIA, ADOPTI G <br />REGULATIONS FOR CANDIDATES FOR ELECTIVE <br />OFFICE, PERTAINING TO MATERIALS SUBMITTED <br />TO THE ELECTORATE AND THE COSTS THEREOF. <br />WHEREAS, Section 10012 of the Elections Code of the State of <br />California authorizes the governing body of any local agency to adopt regula- <br />tions pertaining to materials prepared by any candidate for a municipal elec- <br />tion, including costs thereof; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the Attorney General of the State <br />of California (No. CV 76/5, May 6, 1976) that a candidate may not be billed for <br />the additional cost of preparing candidates' statements in Spanish if such were <br />not requested by the candidate but were required solely by reason of recent <br />amendments to the Federal Voting Rights Act of 1965 (Public Law 94-73, August <br />6, 1975); <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON, CALI- <br />FORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, , DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION 1. That pursuant to Section 10012 of the Elections Code <br />of the State of California, each candidate for elective office may prepare a <br />candidate's statement on an appropriate form provided by the City Clerk. Such <br />statement may include the name, age and occupation of the candidate and a <br />brief description of no more than two hundred (200) words of the candidate's <br />education and qualifications expressed by the candidate himself. Such state- <br />ment shall not include party affiliation of the candidate, nor membership or <br />activity in partisan political organizations. Such statement shall be filed in <br />the office of the City Clerk at the time the candidate's nomination papers are <br />filed. Such statement may be withdrawn, but not changed, during the period for <br />filing nomination papers and until 5:00 p. m. of the next working day after the <br />close of the nomination period. <br />
