recommendation of the Police Chief, the Personnel Officer may authorize an eligible <br />employee to incur a negative vacation balance of up to 40 hours. Vacation shall not be taken <br />during the first six months of service. <br />Vacations shall be taken at times determined by the Police Chief with due regard for the <br />wishes of the employee and for the needs of the service. In the event one or more City <br />holidays fall within an annual vacation leave, such holidays shall not be charged as vacation <br />leave and the vacation leave shall be extended accordingly. No person shall be permitted to <br />work for compensation for the City during his/her vacation except with prior approval of the <br />Personnel Officer. <br />3. ACCUMULATED HOURS AT TERMINATION OF EMPLOYMENT <br />An employee who terminates at any time during their employment, including the <br />probationary period, shall be paid for all credited or accrued vacation. <br />SECTION 2: HOLIDAYS <br />Each unit member working a 4/10 schedule shall receive the following 10 -hour holidays: <br />New Year's Day <br />Martin Luther King's Birthday <br />Presidents' Day <br />Memorial Day <br />Independence Day <br />Labor Day <br />Columbus Day <br />Veterans' Day (to be observed as the second Monday in November) <br />Thanksgiving Day <br />Christmas Eve <br />Christmas Day <br />New Year's Eve <br />If an employee is scheduled to work or be off on a regularly scheduled day off on one of the <br />above fixed holidays, the Police Chief shall assign the employee another day off within the same <br />work period contiguous to his/her regularly scheduled days off unless the employee and Police <br />Chief mutually agree to another day off during that work period. <br />Effective every July, all employees covered by the MOU shall accrue ten hours of holiday leave <br />each month during the pay period which includes their anniversary date. Any balance in excess <br />of 240 hours on the books each July 1 from the prior fiscal year shall be paid off on July 1. <br />Employees who wish to exercise their option to sell back holiday hours on July 1 must process a <br />written request to the Finance Department no later than June 15 of the prior fiscal year. <br />CPMA Comp MOU Expires 063005 <br />10/21/2004 <br />Page 11 of 15 <br />
