R-51-05 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 2119 TO ADD THE PLACEMENT OF A STOP SIGN AT THE INTERSECTION OF LITTON AVENUE AND BOSTICK AVENUE WHEREAS, the City of Colton is a municipal corporation duly organized and existing pursuant to the Constitution and laws of the State of California ("City"); and WHEREAS, staff has received complaints and concerns about visibility of motorists Itraveling along Litton Avenue at the intersection of Bostick Avenue due to (1) insufficient right -of —way to provide street improvements; and (2) the existing shrubbery and other landscaping that forces motorists to venture into the intersection to maximize visibility to complete turns; and WHEREAS, California Vehicle Code, section 21101 authorizes the City Council of the City to designate, by resolution, highways as through streets and intersections and stop intersections; and WHEREAS, there is substantial evidence upon which the City Council may reasonably adopt the stop sign design provided for in this Resolution. These include: 1. The insufficient right-of-way to provide for street improvement located at the southeast corner of Litton Avenue and Bostick Avenue; and 2. The existing shrubbery located at the southeast corner of Litton Avenue and Bostick Avenue. WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed the plans for the proposed intersection and has determined that the proposed stop sign is the best way, given the City's resources, to provide protection for motorists and pedestrians that use this intersection; and NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Colton hereby adopts the recitals contained in this ordinance as findings in support of the placement of a stop sign at the intersection of Litton Avenue and Bostick Avenue. SECTION 2 Section 21.366 is hereby added to Resolution No. 2119 to add a stop sign(s) at Litton Avenue and Bostick Avenue. Said stop sign(s) shall be placed and maintained by the City of Colton Engineering Division.
