ARTICLE I <br />EMPLOYER-EMPLOYEE RELATIONS <br />Section 1: Recognition <br />The City hereby recognizes the Colton Police Officers Association (Rank and File Unit) as the representative of <br />employees in the following classifications: <br />ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER <br />I.D. OFFICER <br />POLICE CORPORAL <br />POLICE DETECTIVE <br />POLICE OFFICER <br />POLICE OFFICER TRAINEE <br />POLICE SERGEANT <br />* Non -Sworn <br />Section 2: Term of Agreement: <br />The agreement will last for a three (3) year period beginning July 1, 2004 and ending midnight June 30, 2007. I1j <br />however, both Proposition 65 and I fail in the November 2004 election, the salary and benefit increases set to take <br />effect on or after July 1, 2007 will not occur and the Association has the following options: (1) end the contract <br />effective June 30, 2005 and receive only the 3.75% salary increase that is effective January 1, 2005 and the increases <br />to Bilingual Pay and FTO Pay that become effective July 1, 2004; or (2) end the contract effective June 30, 2006 and <br />receive all that is contained in Option 1, above, plus the 3.25% salary increase that is effective July 1, 2005 and the <br />insurance increase (to $990), which will then be effective January 1, 2006. The term of the contract is extended to <br />June 30, 2009 with the following terms: <br />3 % salary increase January 1, 2007; 1 % salary increase January 1, 2007; salary survey 4.5% - 6.5% July 1, 2007; <br />salary survey 4.5% - 6.5% July 1, 2008. <br />Section 3: Grievance Procedure. <br />A. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE <br />The purpose and objectives of the grievance procedure are to: <br />1. Assure fair and equitable treatment of all employees and to promote harmonious relations among <br />employees and their supervisors. <br />2. Afford employees a written and simple means of obtaining consideration of their grievance by informal <br />means at supervisory level and review of the supervisor's decisions. <br />3. Resolve grievances as quickly as possible and to correct, if possible, the causes of grievances, thereby <br />reducing the number of grievances and future similar complaints. <br />B. DEFINITIONS <br />1. Day - A work day unless otherwise stated.
