CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
For Council Meeting of January 19, 1988
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
J
FROM: RICH HOLMER, HUMAN SERVICES DIRECTOR
SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF CHILD CARE SERVICES AGREEMENT FOR Date: 1/13/88
CITY OF COLTON SCHOOL AGE CHILD CARE PROGRAM
The City of Colton Human Services Department has received grant monies from the
State Department of Education to operate a School Age Child Care (Latchkey)
Program. The service has two separate program elements to serve youngsters in.
all Colton Joint Unified School District Elementary Schools.
The first service element is a center -based program which will operate from Wilson
and Lincoln elementary schools. The other program participants will be served
through an off-site, state -licensed day care provider, located near the elementary
school which they attend. Thus, the City will subcontract or enter into a child
care service agreement with a state -licensed provider for youngsters not served
through the center -based component.
RECOMMENDAITON
Staff recommends that the City Council approve the Child Care Services Agreement,
which allows the City to subcontract with state -licensed Day Care Providers/Centers
to serve Colton youngsters not enrolled in the center -based program element.
It is also requested that the City Council authorize the City Manager or his
designee, the Human Services Director, to sign the agreements with the state
licensed Day Care Provider/Center.
The City Attorney has reviewed and approved the agreement as to form.
l
City Manager Concurrence
i
i
Attachments:
Page 1
Child Care Services Agreement
Item No.
