CITY OF COLTON <br />City Librarian (Continued) <br />Maintain departmental awareness of state -of -art developments in <br />management, systems development (i.e. automated systems) and <br />related fields of specialty. <br />Select, supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate staff. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES <br />Perform a variety of professional librarian duties involving <br />reference, adult and children services. <br />Perform related duties as assigned. <br />QUALIFICATIONS <br />Knowledge of: <br />Modern library organization, objectives, services and their <br />application. <br />Principles, laws, policies, methods and practices of public <br />library administration. <br />Library classification, circulation, distributing, cataloging and <br />reference techniques and practices. <br />Principles and practices of modern office and library management. <br />Principles and practices of organization, administration, <br />budgeting and personnel management. <br />Automated library systems and data bases. <br />Ability to: <br />Plan, organize, direct and coordinate the activities of a library <br />system. <br />Delegate responsibility; schedule and program work on a long-term <br />basis. <br />Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. <br />Select, supervise, train and evaluate subordinates. <br />Establish and maintain effective work relationships with those <br />contacted in the performance of required duties. <br />
