CITY OF COLTON cY 40%N
iaaz
INTEROFFICE MEMORANDUM
TO: JOHN C. HLTIZCN, DIRE)=R OF PUBLIC WORKS DATE: JU,y 5, 1990
FILE NUMBER:
FROM: ROBERT A. LAVIN, CHIEF UTILITY OPERA70R 1 I w., --
SUBJECT: WELL #22
At your request I contacted JF Davidson consulting engineers to discuss alternatives
to Well #22's air problein. I met with John Seba on Tuesday, July 3 and with a repre-
sentative from San Luis Tank & Piping, Gary Corippo at Well #22.
We looked at the possibility of moving the East Colton Heights Water Reservoir, however,
Mr. Corippo did not feel the tank was structurally sound and the materials used to coat
the tank were no longer acceptable to EPA. We discussed the possibility of building
a 40,000 gallon holding tank which will cost from $50,000 to $70,000. This tank
will be placed partially in ground so it will not be visible to the surrounding homes.
The tank will allow Well #22 to pump directly into it allowing the air to escape and
then pump the water back into the system. Also, after the completion of the new
reservoir in Reche Canyon we can either sell back the tank to San Luis Tank or
keep it as an alternative water source. If we should decide to keep the tank, Well
#22 will be able to pump into the tank or new reservoir.
The above solution seems the most viable and will allow us to go to Council on July
17, 1990 and have the tank completed 3 weeks after that in time for the hot August
and September months.
Please let me know if you wish to present this to Council.
/lj
