CITY OF COLTON <br />COMMUNITY SERVICE COORDINATOR <br />DEFINITION <br />Under general supervision, coordinates, the use of community <br />facilities by citizen groups; coordinates a variety of social, <br />recreational and community service programs for varied age groups; <br />performs related work as assigned. <br />CLASS CHARACTERISTICS <br />This class provides community support services in two specified <br />areas: coordinating the use of specified facilities for citizen <br />groups and programs, and implementing varied social, recreational <br />and community service programs, including making referrals to <br />other social and community service agencies. This class is <br />distinguished from Program Specialist in that the latter develops <br />and implements a variety of City-wide recreation and related <br />community service programs and activities. <br />PRINCIPAL DUTIES <br />Assists in the development and implementation of goals, policies, <br />and procedures for assigned facilities and services; plans, <br />organizes, assigns, directs and reviews the. work of assigned <br />staff and volunteers; identifies community service needs of <br />individuals and groups, implements programs and services to <br />fulfill those needs; develops and coordinates social community <br />service and recreational activities and programs with other staff <br />and outside agencies; responds to inquiries regarding recreation <br />and community programs and operations and resolves problems and <br />concerns expressed by citizens and/or organization; confers with <br />individuals requiring support services and assists them as <br />required (i.e., completing forms, transporting to appointments, <br />referring to other services); coordinates the use of assigned <br />community facilities, including scheduling events, explaining <br />procedures and providing for custodial and other services; <br />researches and gathers data for periodic and special reports; may <br />represent the City in meetings with community agencies, boards <br />and commissions; monitors developments related to community <br />service matters, evaluates their impact on City operations and <br />recommends and implements procedural and program improvements. <br />QUALIFICATIONS <br />Knowledge of: <br />Principles and practices of recreation and community program <br />planning, development, implementation and administration. <br />Principles and methods of needs assessments and program <br />evaluation. Public recreation and community trends and <br />
