Basic principles and methods <br />of administration including policy and proce �- <br />implementation, work and program planning and work <br />assignment. Rules and regulations pertaining to recreation <br />and community service programs and facilities. Basic <br />supervisory principles and practices. Available community <br />resources for varied social service needs. <br />Skill in: <br />Planning, assigning, directing and reviewing the work of <br />assigned staff and volunteers. Implementing goals, <br />policies, procedures and work standards. Organizing and <br />implementing multi -faceted recreation and community services <br />programs and activities. Identifying community social <br />service needs and problems and recommending alternative <br />solutions. Exercising sound independent judgment within <br />policy and procedural guidelines. Maintaining accurate <br />records and preparing clear written materials. Establishing <br />and maintaining effective working relationships with those <br />contacted in the course of the work. <br />Other Requirements: <br />Must possess valid California driver's license and a <br />satisfactory driving record. Bilingual skill is desirable. <br />A typical way of gaining the knowledge and skills outlined <br />above is: <br />Equivalent to completion of two years of college with major <br />coursework in recreation, social science, business <br />administration or a related field and two years of <br />recreation, community services or social services leadership <br />experience which has included staff or volunteer <br />supervision. Additional experience may be substituted for <br />the education on a year for year basis. <br />
