M. Grbavac Construction Co. was Schedule I low <br />bidder and Albert W. Davies, Inc. was Schedule II low bidder. Schedule I <br />(18" Rancho Avenue Sewer) bids ranged from a low of $224,146 to a high of <br />$519,373.20, and Schedule II (Lake Cadena Lift Station) bids ranged from <br />a low of $328,800 to a high of $721,162. <br />The sum of the low bids for both schedules is $552,946 (versus the sum of <br />the lowest combined Schedule I and II bid by a single contractor at <br />$581,000). The engineer's estimate for subject project was $480,000. <br />Each of the low bidders' documents contained discrepancies, however, none <br />appear to be significant. A check of the low bidders' references <br />indicates that each bidder has satisfar_torily completed similar projects <br />for other agencies. Bidder <br />corrected errors on Bid Schedule I by using "liquid paper" and <br />these corrections were not initialed by the bidder. Bidder listed <br />only one subbidder in the Bid'Documents. After the bid opening, <br />bidder requested the addition of another subbidder (subcontLactor) <br />to construct a portion of the work. Bidder did not list a supglier <br />for Class II base. <br />2. Albert W. Davies, Inc. (Schedule II�. <br />Bidder did not list any suUbidders in the B.Ld DOr_I1[IIZIttS.
