e <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />Principal Librarian (Continued) <br />Supervise and participate in the operation of adult services <br />including readers advisory, reference, programs and material <br />selection. <br />Assume responsibility for library operations in the absence of <br />the Library Director. <br />DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: <br />KNOWLEDGE OF• <br />Principles and practices of professional library work including <br />methods, practices and techniques of library classification and <br />cataloging; reference methods, techniques and sources used in <br />library work; principles and practices of supervision and <br />training; policies, procedures, functions, materials and services <br />available in public libraries. <br />Ability to.- <br />Perform <br />o: <br />Perform technical library tasks. <br />Experience and Training: <br />Any combination of experience and training that would likely <br />provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A <br />typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: <br />Experience• <br />Two years of experience as a professional librarian is desirable. <br />Training <br />Possession of a Master of Library Science Degree from a college <br />or university, preferably accredited by the American Library <br />Association. <br />APPROVED BY CITY COUNCIL <br />
