CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT (CONTINUED)
FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF November 6, 1990
SUBJECT: Replacement of Police Radio System
FINANCIAL IMPACT
A Center Com, Series II Plus, radio console is $93,000.00. A.
Transmitter, including main and secondary radio frequencies is
$11,000.00. Installation, including replacement of wiring harnesses,
antenna lead cables, and replacement of telephone lines is
$16,000.00. Total - $120,000.00.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
None.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council approve the purchase of Motorola
Radio Console and Transmitter. The price quotes were provided by
Motorola and are based on the San Bernardino County bid. The
existing 40 unit radios and 46 handie-talkies are Motorola and will
not be replaced; the County of San Bernardino Sheriff's Department is
converting to the 800 MHZ radio which also is Motorola. The new
radio equipment for Colton Police Department must be compatible with
the San Bernardino Sheriff's Department 800 MHZ. Consequently,
Colton must purchase this equipment through Motorola, a single source
bid. Recommendation is made to purchase this through the General Fund
Contingency Reserves.
Report Prepared By:
Concurrence:
P. G. Crowe, Administrative Lieutenant
2 2
Page of ----:---Item No
