CITY OF COLTON <br />FIRE CHIEF <br />To plan, organize, direct, and coordinate the activities of fire <br />suppression, fire prevention, emergency medical, and support <br />services; to provide highly responsible and technical staff <br />assistance to the City Manager and City Council. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br />Receives administrative direction from the City Manager. <br />Exercises direct and indirect supervision over technical and clerical <br />staff. <br />EXAMPLES Qg DUTIES - Duties may include, but are not limited to, the <br />following: <br />Direct, develop and implement policies, goals, objectives and <br />priorities for the Fire Department. <br />Plan, direct, coordinate, organize and supervise the departmental <br />operations of fire suppression, fire prevention, fire inspection, <br />emergency medical and related activities. <br />Coordinate and direct the support services of the fire stations and <br />equipment maintenance; maintain departmental efficiency and <br />effectiveness. <br />Direct research of alternative approaches to fire protection and <br />Emergency Medical Services. <br />Direct the hazardous and toxic materials control activities. <br />Plan, direct, coordinate, organize and supervise the Disaster <br />Preparedness Program, including the preparation and execution of the <br />emergency response plan for the City Departments and the community. <br />Respond to major fire alarms and personally direct fire suppression <br />activities as necessary. <br />Direct and participate in the preparation of a variety of technical <br />and departmental activity reports and records. <br />Direct and participate in the preparation and administration of the <br />departmental annual budget. <br />Supervise the testing of equipment; and inspect personnel, equipment <br />and quarters. <br />Direct the establishment of appropriate training programs. <br />
