TO
FROM:
CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
For Council Meeting of October 2, 1990
Honorable Mayor and City Council
PAUL J. CONNOLLY, CHIEF OF POLICE
SUBJECT: INCREASE EXISTING FEES FOR POLICE
ANIMAL CONTROL SERVICES
BACKGROUND
Date: August 30, 1990
The Police Department performs animal control services to the
public for fees that are significantly below those of other
local police agencies. In some cases, the Department pays more
to the San Bernardino City Animal Shelter than the amount
recovered from citizens for the service rendered.
The animal control services performed for the public include the
following:
1.
Dog
Licensing - $10
per animal or
$5 for spayed or
neutered
animals.
2.
Dog
Apprehension -
$18 for the first
apprehension
$20 for the second
apprehension
$25 for the third
apprehension
3.
Dog
Pickups - $18
4.
Dead
Dog Pickups -
$5
5.
Dead
Cat Pickups -
$2
A survey of nearby police agencies was conducted as to the
services that they provide and the fees charged for those
services. It was found that the City of Colton has
substantially lower fees than all of the other agencies and
provides the same service for these fees.
Attachments:
Page 1 of 2 — ORIGINAL Item No h7
CENTRAL RECORDS
FILE NO.....................
