CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT (CONTINUED)
FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF OCTOBER 16, 1990
SUBJECT: REPEAL OF SENATE BILL 2557, CHARGING FOR BOOKING OF PRISONERS
As of July 1, 1990, Colton Police Department has arrested 1,090 adults. If retroactive, Colton Police Department may be
billed $163,500 for July through September. If Colton continues its present growth pattern, arrests are predicted to increase
between 10 and 15 percent annually; consequently, the county may charge the City of Colton $752,100 for the 1991
bookings.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
None.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council approve a resolution which supports the repeal of Senate Bill 2557 and protect
this city from the State budget process and support the alternatives that will provide adequate long term funding for cities
and counties.
ATTACHMENTS
• Senate Bill 2557
• Memo dated September 13, 1990 from P.
