The purpose of this part of the terminal inspection is to <br />determine whether the motor carrier's maintenance program is working as it <br />should. If this category is rated unsatisfactory, the overall terminal rating <br />will also be designated unsatisfactory. <br />Hazardous Materials Transportation. For carriers that transport hazardous <br />materials or hazardous wastes, the terminal inspection will include checks for <br />compliance with regulations covering the following requirements: <br />(1) Packaging - Selection and proper use of specification containers. <br />(2) Marking - Placement of required markings on packages and vehicles. <br />(3) Labeling - Proper labeling of packaging and containers, <br />(4)Placarding - Proper placarding of vehicles or containers. <br />(5) Shipping papers - Proper entries, including sequence of entries; <br />legibility of shipper's certification when required; shipping paper <br />retention as required; availability in transport vehicles. <br />(6) Loading - Compatibility (segregation of incompatible materials); load <br />secure:ment (blocking or bracing); protection from weather. <br />(7) Spill reporting - Reports submitted as required; copies retained at <br />terminal. <br />HPG 84.6 6-6 <br />
