CITY OF COLTON <br />METER TECHNICIAN APPRENTICE & METER TECHNICIAN (continued) <br />Training: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade. Training in <br />electric and electronic theory and practice is desirable. <br />LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE <br />Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California <br />driver's license. <br />METER TECHNICIAN <br />In addition to the qualifications for Meter Technician Apprentice: <br />Knowledge of• <br />Safety procedures for connecting and disconnecting electric meters. <br />The geography and streets of the utility system. <br />City policies and procedures regarding utility services. <br />Common causes and remedies for electric consumption problems. <br />Ability to• <br />Investigate and determine reasons for unusual electric consumption and <br />other service problems. <br />Interpret and explain City policies and procedures in a tactful and <br />effective manner. <br />Experience and Training <br />Any combination equivalent to experience and training that could likely <br />provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A <br />typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: <br />Experience• <br />Three years of progressively responsible experience installing, <br />maintaining and testing electric and electronic meters and other <br />related electrical equipment. <br />Training• <br />Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade, supplemented by <br />specialized training in electric meter maintenance desirable. <br />LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE <br />Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California <br />driver's license. <br />APPROVED BY COUNCIL 11/19/91 <br />JD2:MTRTEC <br />
